Adaminaby

Adaminaby and its smaller ‘sister’ townships of Old Adaminaby and Anglers Reach are set among the rolling high plains in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains, with Kosciuszko National Park at their doorstep. At an elevation of over 1000 metres, Adaminaby remains the main service centre for the Northern skifields, one of the oldest areas for recreational skiing in the world. The town is 30 minutes from Cooma, and the houses in Adaminaby are located on big blocks with some on acreage. The town is a picturesque, mountain village with a majority of the homes being a short walk from the town centre. Situated close to the snow fields and Lake Eucumbene, it is a perfect year round location. The town has all the essential services, including a supermarket, grocery and hardware shop, a post office and service stations. Other shops in the area include an op shop, bait and tackle shops, a real estate and ski, snowboard and clothing hire and sales. Berridale

Berridale is located halfway between Cooma and Jindabyne, 30 minutes from Lake Eucumbene and the Snowy River and one hour drive from the skifields and Kosciuskzo National Park. It is the administrative centre of the Snowy River Shire Council. The town lies at 860 metres above sea level and in recent decades, Berridale has developed a tourism industry based on its location on route to the NSW snow fields. Berridale has a number of established businesses in town, and features a 18 hole golf course, bowling club, swimming pool, primary school, soccer club, tennis club, CWA rooms and a sports oval. Berridale Public School is a primary school with around 100 pupils aged between kindergarten and year 6 serving the town and outlying areas. The school has recently received a $900,000 upgrade including a new library. Students usually progress to the Snowy Mountains Grammar School, Jindabyne Central School in Jindabyne or Monaro High School in Cooma. Students living in Berridale can commute to schools in Jindabyne and Cooma via the school buses provided.

Bombala

The homes in Bombala are traditional and many are settler cottages. Most have been tastefully renovated but retain their old charm. Bombala has all the essential services, like a post office, banks and grocery shops. The main street is home to gift shops, clothing shops, accessory shops and shoe shops. There are also farms that are open to the public. There are an abundance of reserves, parks and forests in the area, presenting great opportunities for hiking and bushwalking. The area is also a fisherman's paradise. Primary aged children can attend either the Bombala Public School or the St. Josephs School. Bredbo is a quiet country town situated on the Monaro Plains 33 kilometres from Cooma and 76 kilometres from Canberra. Cooma North

Cooma is the main town of the Monaro region. It is 800 metres (2,620 ft) above sea level. The town has been nicknamed the ‘Gateway to the Snowy Mountains’. Many of the homes at Cooma North are traditional in design and the outskirts of the town enjoy a rural outlook. Cooma’s CBD has many retail shops and craft stores. Known as the premier Food & Wine event in the South East, the Snowy Mountains Regional Food Fair is held in Dalgety and showcases regional produce and offers fantastic networking opportunities for small producers and caterers from all over the South East of NSW. Dalgety has a public school for primary aged children. The nearest schools and TAFE facilities are in Cooma.

Delegate

The tiny village of Delegate has a reputation as one the finest trout fishing destinations in New South Wales. The design of the homes in Delegate are country-style and traditional. Lake Eucumbene

Lake Eucumbene is located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains and is around 40 kilometres from Cooma. It sits at an elevation of 1200 metres above sea level making it a pristine alpine lake. The closest town to Lake Eucumbene is Adaminaby. The dam construction was finished in 1958 creating the largest of the Snowy Scheme lakes. It holds around nine times the volume of water that Sydney Harbour does. This lake is one of the best fisheries in the Australian Highlands holding rainbow trout, brown trout and atlantic salmon, the lake is regularly re-stocked with trout by NSW Fisheries which makes it a destination for trout fishermen. Nimmitabel

Nimmitabel means the ‘place where many waters start or divide’ in the local Aboriginal language. The village has a population of 240 and an elevation of 1070m. Numeralla

It is thought that the word "Numeralla" means "valley of plenty" or "where the waters meet". The village stands at the junction of the Badja and Numeralla Rivers. The Badja got its name when the early explorers saw platypus in the river and thought they were badgers. The area now known as Numeralla was originally part of early station holdings. The area is quiet and rural, and can get cold in the winter. The homes have slow combustion, wood fires for the colder months, and enjoy plenty of sunlight in the warmer ones. Numeralla has a general store, but is only half an hour away from Cooma. Shannons Flat

Shannons Flat is nestled between Bredbo and Adaminaby, and is right next to the ACT border. The town of Shannons Flat is home to around 799 people, and many of the homes around are farm style. The closest shops are in Adaminaby, about an hour away and there are large shopping centres in Canberra. The area is surrounded by rural land and a forest is nearby. There are great opportunities to go horse and motor bike riding, as well as hiking. Cooma offers a variety of sports and activities, and is only an hour away.
